I am Hector MacInnes, I'm a sound artist and a musician from the Isle of Skye on the west coast of Scotland, currently based between there and Bristol. My work is always interested in place - having grown up on an island, it couldn't be otherwise - but often not in place as an identity to be discerned, but rather as a process or field to be participated in, modelled, dreamt about or disrupted.

I work with composition, installation, text, speculative design and sonic fiction, often in collaboration with other artists and communities.

In the last few years I have presented solo and collaborative work at Sound Festival in Aberdeen, Edinburgh's Hogmanay, An Lanntair Arts Centre, Taigh Chearsabhagh, the Made In Scotland Showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe, the National Library of Scotland (online) and the EFDSS. I have conducted residencies with the Bothy Project and Creative Carbon Scotland.

As a multi-instrumentalist I have recorded and performed with a wide range of musicians including Mylo, Mairearad Green, Jason Singh and Anne Martin, and I am a proud member of The Dead Man's Waltz, Oat Perigord and Havoc.

I have produced, recorded and mixed artists including David Littler, Ingrid Henderson and Iain MacFarlane, Beware of Trains and DĂ imh.

I have devised and delivered education projects, tuition and participatory works for the University of the Highlands and Islands, ATLAS Arts, Feisean nan Gaidheal, Historic Environment Scotland, Young Films, Skye Young Carers and others.
